Biden's First 16 Months in Office a Disaster for Democrats
Gallup is closing in on nearly 90 years in the business taking the pulse of the American people on all sorts of topics. They conduct weekly phone calls with various segments of voters and citizens to assess their party preference. This particular poll has been around since 2004 so we have a good amount of data to go by.
How are things shaping up for Joe Biden’s first 16 months in office? Not great.
This poll asks for party preference and also asks those who identify as independents which party they would choose if they HAD to at this moment in time. Democrats have always outnumbered Republicans by about 5 to 10 % points since FDR but the GOP has relied on the independent vote to get them over the hump. Here’s how the poll logged the 3 answers since Biden took office:
The poll then asks the independents: “As of today, do you lean more to the Democratic Party or the Republican Party?” The results are in the first chart for Biden.
But how does that compare to Trump or even Obama’s terms as President?
We’ll be diving into political data and cross-tabs in the next few months. The next few months will be very interesting.
