Case Surveillance File Update!
Subscribers get the detailed deets on the CDC's master file of record
We’re now up to 681,857 deaths “verified” into the CDC’s Case Surveillance File including part of December. For a quick explanation of the CSF see this article. Here are the topline numbers. Subscribers get some really good drill downs on the whole data and XLS exports as well - down below.
Some quick notes:
Medcond indicates a case was noted with a medical condition.
Deaths (w/Hosp) indicates a case with a death noted and a hospitalization noted. In other words more than half of all deaths have no record of a hospitalization.
Some of the differentials are based on the inconsistency of data between states. Some states collect and send in a lot of data. Others do not.
The last 3 columns: Deaths / hosp rate (rate of deaths with a noted hospitalizations) & Deaths /ICU rate (rate of deaths with a noted ICU).
