CLI is now the twin sister of ILI.
ILI stands for Influenza-Like-Illness and represents the number and % of ED (Emergency Department) visits over a period of time. About 10% of hospitals and other health service providers participate in the program around the country and the CDC and other entities use this information as a leading indicator of influenza outbreaks.
CLI is (you guessed it) stands for COVID-Like-Illnesses. It uses a combo of “unique” characteristics of people checking into the ER with symptoms which appear to parallel symptoms you would expect from COVID-19 illnesses.
We gauge the impact of CLI year-over-year to see the trends. This is the % of visits to the ER presenting themselves with covid-like sypmtoms.
Here are the HHS regions for reference:
Here’s every region of CLI courtesy of Phil Kerpen’s great work:
Do you think adverse effects from the vaccine will get designated as "CLI"?
Most region trends are much better than last year and not tracking last year. Positive sign for winter.
