When one of our original Rational Ground members said she was running for congress I was thrilled! Emily Burns is a force of nature and when she says she’s going to do something she is ALL IN!
Of course I never thought that my wife Jenny would drag me and the three small kiddos to attend a fundraiser for Emily in the deep snowy Northeast in December! But there we were.
Our intrepid colleague Amanda, who you know as @AJKayWriter, suggested that since we were all in town we should do an ad-hoc Rational Ground meet-up. 5 days later we had 100+ RSVPs for our snowy half-day “retreat” in New Hampshire. I thought maybe 20 or 30 people would show up.
85 braved the snow to get there!
We had some amazing speakers and discussions. I’ll have some reports throughout the week as I gather my thoughts on all of this. (Yes, that is Jay Bhattacharya holding my 3-month old there!)
Tomorrow at noon pacific I’ll take to the airwaves to discuss. Be sure to join us!
It was awesome - thanks so much for the event! Everyone I talked to had the same comment - it is so gratifying to be in a room with people who are likeminded on these issues, since we have all experienced varying levels of isolation and stress and loss of kinship/friendship. Not that we all had identical opinions there, such as on the efficacy/advisability of the CV19 medical treatments, but that discussion was in the context of affirming the need to protect everyone's freedom to choose. I have to laugh a little at your "brave the snow" comment (but I am only poking fun gently here... I am originally from the south and I vaguely remember when a few inches on the ground seemed like a LOT). Last December we had over 3 feet of snow come down in 24 hours, so you got off light!
Looking forward to it. We are only a couple hours away but could not make it.
