"Sometimes, being American means sacrificing some of my liberties in the name of protecting my fellow countrymen"

ONLY if faced by an armed force or deadly natural disaster, and only for a very limited time. Absolutely no other circumstance justifies infringing on individual liberties. None!

I would shorten this letter substantially: "Dear Mayor Wu, take this mandate and shove it"

My sentiment is not nearly so charitable, but every voice in opposition is important

We are not seeing the beautiful forest for the trees. If Mayor Wu stops reading or dismisses the letter because a teacher made an error in word usage, nothing Ms. Dorian so eloquently said will matter anyway.

I think she meant “descendants” rather than “ancestors” in a few spots.

It will be interesting to see if her letter has any effect. I’m not particularly optimistic it will, but what she said needed saying.

It's a great letter, although I don't share her confidence that Mayor Wu is the kind of person she describes so optimistically. Hopefully it will awaken some kind of conscience in her, though.

michelle wu is a fascist, imposing totalitarian restriction in the name of gaslighting, political drivel called science.

i will do no business in boston as long as i live......

Unfortunately, this letter will fall on deaf ears and blind eyes of this millennial woke mayor.

As a 1st-gen Chinese American on one side, I'm particularly disappointed in Michelle Wu, as I was so excited to see a Chinese American woman elected as mayor of Boston. My family's experience in the Cultural Revolution is one of the main reasons I'm so viscerally opposed to these authoritarian, purely political, punitive measures designed to banish any non-approved thought.

Aren't ancestors the people we descended from? I don't think that word means what she thinks it means. The author could replace the word "ancestor" in her letter with the word "descendant" to fix this error.

Seems to be written by someone who is finally realizing that something is very wrong, but is nervous to upset the tyrant lest they would determine the writer unloyal.

You're an English teacher and you write "ancestor" where you mean "descendant"?

Mayor Michelle Wu is just a low capable everything like many elected officials. Maybe she should look a little north to NH "live free or die" to understand the American soul

Can people on our side not find any proofreaders to check their letters and posts before they are sent out? Obvious typos or errors in word usage make writing look so unprofessional, and distract from the message.
