This was a literal case of the cure being worse than the disease. Covid didn't cause nearly as much harm as the reaction to it did. The one silver lining is that this exposed the incompetence of the so called "experts" and the corporate media so much that they've blown their credibility with a substantial portion of the population.

I love this article and you articulated it very precisely and clearly. Thank you for that. I also appricate that you mention many points which are not reflected by others. The role of Internet in all of this madness is huge. If there would be no remote work or Zoom calls like few years back, people would soon realize, that the restrictions are useless and there is no real danger. Also it wouldn't be so easy to keep them locked down for two years without Netflix and other entertainment brought by online services to their home.

I also agree with you on Trump, he was the first one who impose lockdown and allow this mania to spread. Of course, then Democrats and others took over and it was much worse but he failed also and it should be noted, that he is not the way how to make things better.

Very good write up and one of the most honest when it comes to our culture. Don’t expect things to be different for the next one though.

Many excellent points in this article. There are several aspects unique to our day and age that made it possible for coronamania to take off.

I would add that governments throughout history have taken advantage of crises in order to restrict the freedoms of their constituents. Humans have inherited the instinct to sacrifice from their ancestors. Two instinctive purposes of sacrifice are to distract a threat and to appease the social order. When presented with a threat, we as humans instinctively want to “do something!” or “take one for the team” with the hope that in doing so, the threat is distracted or the tribe is strengthened. This can be bad or good, depending on the situation.

Savvy political leaders know how to exploit this instinct. They stoke panic and fear and then convince the populace what they must give up so that the danger goes away. More often than not, the offering consists of our rights and freedoms, while the rulers garner more power for themselves.

Money, Banking and Finance. Money is the OG of BioTech. Tech begets more tech. Civilizations cycle in and out through various iterations of tech addictions. I suspect the best and brightest among the elite families know this and are trying to break us all from the cycle.

Cornell proved itself worthy of cult status during the past few years. What a dystopian shit show that place is now.

Your keepsake box is a treasure. Typewritten. I remember those days. If you’ve not read Diana West, you really should . Your WWI story reminded me of her analysis in “American Betrayal.” Read that and “The Death of the Grown-Up.” I think she’s a Californian, and she also has a blog: https://dianawest.net/

All anyone needed to know about the corona con was how to recognize lies and liars. No medical knowledge was necessary. I didn’t think it was a special gift but perhaps it is, as it appears relatively few did.

Great essay Mr. Oshinskie. We clearly came of age at around the same time and took some of the same lessons from our lives, but with me just bit younger than you. Yes, yes and yes to this part:

-----"the willingness to buy into the Covid overreaction may have been rooted, as explained by psychologist Mattias Desmet, in the sense of meaninglessness that many feel in a post-modern world. Supporting a purportedly noble, “We’re all in this together”--------

I noted the same thing multiple times during the Spring of 2020. The propagandists used exactly that line at the end repeatedly, often while, at the same time, dining out with friends and family, maskless.

This is an outstanding piece of writing. And I love the analogy of WW I as to why was it fought? And your realization that it did not vs everyone else accepting that it did just because it had happened. The Covid reaction is pure and simple a pure power play to destroy our freedoms. The swamp lied to Trump and Trump was not up to the challenge of understanding the true nature of the swamp. The swamp saw it’s chance and went full in with the goal to destroy Trump no matter the damages. Trump gave them assists the whole time. The number one reason that Trump is not the way forward.

Yep. Had there been no belligerent, there would have been no war.

That’s either trivially true or deeply profound, depending on how you look at it.

It is more than obvious that the pandemic and resulting vaccines were all faked. We know this because the end result, pretend vaccines, otherwise known as mRNA gene altering substances, have absolutely no useful purpose in the world of viruses and medicine. So, what is their real purpose?

Just to clarify, some teachers did want to put their students first--some of us were opposed to lockdowns, masks, online school, etc. from the beginning.
