Personally, I'll be overjoyed if the economy just has another "recession." I worry about a real, 1931-style Great Depression.

I'm dumbfounded the Masters of the Universe have been able to "kick the can down the road" as long as they have. I think all the important economic data is rigged (or concealed) just as much as the Covid data.

I used to sell radio advertising for a living. I can tell from all the radio commercials I hear that the mainstream economy is functioning on fumes. The big advertisers are Plaintiff's Trial Lawyers (looking for people injured in 18-wheeler accidents), Big Pharma and now sports gambling. You don't hear or see the Mom and Pop small businesses advertising like they used to. Every other commercial is a free PSA spot the radio station runs because they didn't sell that inventory.

This is also a bad trend for Substack and its authors (like me) because one of the easiest "inflation work-arounds" is cutting back on paid subscriptions.

What is the impact of over 10 million electric vehicles on US Highways. My son has a Mini Hybrid and runs on electric when in the city. That is about 3% of the total US car population. Anyone agree?

Meanwhile in Russia the economy is moving right along and slowly improving.

So much for sanctions against the Russian boogeyman.

The problem is the bought and paid for Political system in the west who better get their head out of their ass and soon.

Don't worry comrades, inflation is still bubbling underneath the surface waiting to explode like a volcano. But maybe the Fed screws things up again as they never let the excesses of 2007-09 fully play out and have exacerbated them with their endless QE programs and electronic money printing. Could a good bout of deflation be in the cards? Rib-eyes falling from $24 to $13/pound? Hoping.

I'll never complain about lower gas prices...never.

I just read a reminder that California is moving forward with plans to ban all gas-powered cars and light trucks by 2035 - which is less than nine years from now.

What are the electricity rates going to be in 2035? I guess, in California, they'll no longer have "gas stations." Or they'll keep some of them open for a few years until all the old gas cars stop running.

P.S. My late father was gasoline distributor for Gulf Oil. He sold gasoline for a living and owned several gas stations. If he was alive today, I guess he's had to go into the EV charging station business.

This is why oil prices are collapsing. Oil needs to be $1/gal to compete with a Tesla. In today's dollars. Answer to the question of when the recession will happen. January 2025. Fed will not want the crash happening in December as it will ruin the vacations. So they will do one last hurrah to power it before they jump off the train even as it heads into a ravine. After that there are two whole years for the economy to recover and these actions will have no impact on political preferences. Will the economy recover in two years? Sure, if you have a PhD and your biggest problem is to figure out which year's wine bottle you will open tonight. In the cold winter months who socializes anyway. Losing a job is a stigma, so people keep their mouths shut. As is already happening, which you are seeing in your stats.

Why not earlier? Hurts Kamala's chances. If Kamala wins, the economy is going to recover in two years anyway, remember? Makes a great story. If Trump wins, nice way to hamper his plans.
