I really have had it with the mask BS. I'm in Houston (blue city in a red state) and most people here are not wearing masks. I still see a few frightened looking masked people in grocery stores or driving their cars, but for the most part, most people are past the hysteria. However, there are some doctor's offices who are still requiring them. Of all the people out there, I would expect medical professionals to know that viruses are small enough to pass thru those cloth rags on people's faces and that the warm, moist, contaminated environment might be a perfect place to grow bacteria... which you are now breathing in.

I seriously expect medically trained people to know this. But yesterday, I took my cat to an eye specialist. Their website claims to require masks. I was hoping it was info from 2 years ago. When I walked in the reception area, some workers were wearing masks, others were not. So I sat in the waiting room without one. However, when I got to the exam room, the vet tech asked if I had a mask. I said "No, I don't carry those things with me anymore". She said "Can I get you one?". I said "No, I don't wear them". She said Dr. XXX is going to want you to wear one. I said "Why. They don't prevent the spread of respiratory viruses. The viruses are small enough to pass right thru that cloth. Even Fauci admitted this". I was trying to not be mean to her, because she was "following orders", but I had had it with the charade. She kept on about the doctor wanting me to wear one, so I said "Fine, I'll go somewhere else". I picked up my cat and walked out.

This insane requirement has got to stop. The only way I know to try to stop it (besides voting out idiots who support it), is to stop giving the perpetrators my money. I'll probably be looking for several new doctors and vets because of it, but I am so done with the lies.

Good for you. I'm surprised that they didn't want to mask up your cat but most kitties wouldn't tolerate that at all.

Hello from UK. Thanks for the info.

Most mainstream doctors have BS for brains. I had to go the local surgery for an appointment this year. The doctors office window was open (it was bit chilly), the chair was wiped down and the doctor, a lady I thought might have had some common sense was wearing a mask. I was not asked to wear one, but the whole thing was a load of ********. I had known this since June 2020 once I worked it out what was going on.

Most doctors are grossly overpaid for what they do. They think they are gods, but they are morons.

I did this on masks to try and wake up the dim. You might like it. I think it is quite funny IMHO.

Masks. They just don't want to get rid of them especially here in San Francisco. The gal who cuts my hair was wearing a mask the other day. I asked her why. She said that her 82-year-old mom was visiting and she didn't want to risk getting her sick. I told her that masks "don't do shit". Later, when she was cutting my hair, she took the mask off. Not sure if she put it back on.

She did mention that their clients are very glad that they have gotten rid of the Covid restrictions. I think too many people in this town were wearing masks to "be nice". Except for the Chinese people who may never stop wearing them.

Glad your comment made the hairdresser think a bit. Masks will help against particulates and if car pollution is bad I would sympathize with those that wear them for that reason.

But otherwise it was all irrational manipulated fear.

Justin, I have been fighting this fight since the beginning. As a board certified microbiologist, this was always nonsense. And I have finally brought a few folks around. EVERY ONE OF THEM has now sent this article (and the editorials, which are far worse) to me saying "What now? Were you wrong?"

Those of us in the field could REALLY use a reasonably comprehensive takedown of this article -- beyond "differences might not be from masks" even if that is what it boils down to. Several folks (perhaps even you -- don't remember) wrote excellent pieces on how silly the Bangladesh article was which I have pushed out hundreds of times. But this is NEJM which makes it worse.

Any chance you can give some of us something we can use? This piece just scoffs at it all (as do I) but I really need something that looks/is "scientific" that goes point by point as to why what they have said is flawed that someone can read and at least question what is out there.

Thanks if you can do this. Masking is still at the heart of everything bad that has spiraled out of control. If we can make a dent there, we can make it other places. If not, I think we lose.

Let me see what we have. There is SO MUCH out there. Here's a new short piece (published in BMJ) which doesn't directly address the Elli study but provides some terrific reasoning for NOT masking kids. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BRIrcSaCtgSu_BrACLogs-npvN3ZN1kU/view?usp=sharing

Justin, There is lots out there for not masking kids. That is not the problem. The real problem is those who say "but if you REALLY care about disease, masks have been shown to work in children -- read the NEJM article!". I have many pieces that show that masking just does not work -- certainly we have studied flu for years and know that is true. Virions are the same size.

But people WANT to believe. And the NEJM accompanying editorials (all children should always wear masks because...equity) are horrifying. We will not get past those without debunking the claims in the article and showing that the study itself is fundamentally flawed and does not properly show what it claims. I have been through literally hundreds of these conversations now -- I know the dynamics.

So hoping you can work your magic. Thanks

These monsters are of the devil. It’s the only thing that has made a lick of sense to me from the beginning. If you believe in a God—then there is a devil and his recruited human helpers. Satan hates all humans— even the fetus and children. Maybe even more so. This has been his perfect plan to mock God and destroy the planet. But this thing will not win. We have free will but if you question as we have maybe God sends us the information that has flowed to us. I can’t explain where or why I I received the necessary information and strength to resist and grow stronger in the saving information that Justin and many others were inspired to see, do and pass on. Maybe the authors at the NEJM don’t recognize this evil in them but that is no excuse for me or God. They will meet a hard reckoning in time.

My (former) eye doctor has a bachelor's degree in microbiology. Didn't help him any. He is completely paranoid. Continued to require a vaccination when San Francisco and the state of CA no longer did. Still requires masks now (state requirement, I believe) but he's got his storefront locked up and you have to text him to be allowed in. I understand that he won't even let people take much time to select glasses and gives everyone the bum's rush.

I went to another eye doctor in the neighborhood.....had to wear a mask but there were no other restrictions. My former doctor sent out postcards recently for me and my husband to come in, but after 20+ years, it's not happening.

Dr. K,

Have you or anyone in your field been certified in respirator use? I have and that coupled with learning about filtration thought me all I need to know about how and why masks can not work against viruses. There are several conditions that must be met for a filter to function. If any of these are not met, the filter, it ain’t a filterin’. Two of these are important for us. First, the passages/holes in the filter must be smaller than that which you wish to filter out of the fluid you are filtering. Second, the filter must be placed in such a location as to prevent the fluid being filtered from bypassing the filter. Masks fail on both these points. For those of us trained in their use, this is enough. We need no further discussion. However, as it seems that most MDs and medical researchers today (yourself being a rare exception.) have graduated from the Benny Hill Academy of Research (see my other comment on this thread.) and have zero comprehension of fluid flow, filtration nor industrial hygiene.

Studies are to be replicated. has this been replicated? Doubt it has, so few in any filed are now. But there is another step that has been long forgotten, how do the findings of these mask studies stand up in the real world. I live in Japan. mask use is statisticly 100% in the greater Tokyo area, indoors and out and has been for over 2 1/2 years. We have just entered the 8th wave of covid. We led the world in infections and had our highest death count during the recently passed 7th wave. Masks are’t gettin’ it done. Nor are all the other nonsense they have us doing over here.

Look outside the medical field. You should be able to find studies used in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of air filtration systems. Especially interesting would those related to operation rooms and clean rooms. I LOVE it when people tell me I am crazy because surgeons wear masks for hours on end in the operation room. That is when I go through the differences between that environment and the one we are sitting in when discussing the topic. Then I ask how long they wear their one, single mask a day followed by asking them how long the surgical team wears a single mask during surgery.

Or, if you want to get really nasty about it, every single medical professional telling us about this brand new, magical invention known as the face mask and its ability to stop the virus is talking out of their lane.

I teach at medical universities and vocational schools. One has demanded I wear I mask for online classes. I do not. I haver been thrown out of my classroom at nursing school for not wearing a mask. Students at that nursing school don plastic gloves, grab spray bottles and paper towels then spray and wipe their desks and chairs before and after each class. Of course they are wearing masks. If you think you might detect a wee bit o’ contempt for medicals in my comments, you are correct.

That NEJM study is a fraud, and all involved are frauds.

My blurb for today.

URGENT! Now Covid vax is on the Childhood Vaccination Schedule. That means all kids going to school will be practically forced to get the Covid vax at school. And the Beast system has made it extremely hard to get any exemptions for school kids. What issue is more important than this one? See https://tiny.cc/cofaq2

Where can we get together to discuss what to do about this genocidal plan? Do we need to counsel parents on how to demand religious exemptions, or on how to do homeschooling? NVIC is somewhat active at https://www.nvic.org/ for trying to improve state laws. I just joined. They have state teams at https://nvicadvocacy.org/members/State-Teams but you may have to register to see that page. Please comment at https://tiny.cc/cofaq2

Dunno about educating people, but my kids have been through public school with no injections of any kind. Older turned 18 this year, moved out and quit school before graduation, the younger is in 10th grade this year.

The philosophical objections no longer stand, unfortunately they've been voided, but a religious exemption form doesn't require a statement of religion so that's what I've filed and re-filed when needed for the last decade.

Luckily Missouri isn't one of those insane states with the government all biosecurity crazy where you've got to pull your kids out of school because no exemptions are allowed anymore. I feel for folks there, but even if my state was batshit crazy like that then I'd just homeschool again.

Expand full comment

How about that, I'm just across the river from you in Illinois, near the St. Louis area. I was just checking the religious exemption law in Illinois and it looks like there's at least an administrative "law" that parents here since 2015 have to get a doctor's signature with religious exemptions. I haven't yet seen a real statutory law on that. They like to hoodwink people by pretending that the executive branch can make laws. No, they can't. So I think that rule is a bluff, just like all the so-called mandates.

The people who publish this nonsense are frauds and until they are held accountable as frauds this will continue. Whatever is causing their results it can not be the masks. Most of the airflow is directed around and not through the mask as there is no way to keep it from bypassing the mask unless there is a testable seal. That which does not flow through the filter is not filtered. Masks also have perverse affects that have been well known long before the panic. Masks do stop some things, some of which will be perfectly at home and prosper in the fibers of our breath soaked, warmed and nourished mask. Bacteria and fungus love masks. That is why surgical teams need to change them periodically during long operations.

All of this and much more that demonstrates their inability to stop airborne viruses and the health risks of prolonged, and extended use has been known since before these frauds were even born. To ignore this and just test for differences between two groups and assign the results due to masks is akin to the Benny Hill skit where he proves that frogs ears are in their hind legs. With both legs, the frog jumps so far when a loud noise is made behind it. Removing one leg, the frog does not jump as far. Obviously, it is due to the fact that the sound is not as loud as the frog now has only one ear. Remove both legs and it does not jump at at all. “Stone deaf.” Benny Hill exclaims. The entire worldwide medical profession has transformed itself into Benny Hill. Act accordingly.

I remember reading that article (early 2020?) & just shaking my head. I am in the Medico-Legal field & do a lot of medical research, including familiarity w/ the NEJM. I, too, could’ve believe the word “talisman” was there & with that, I knew every bit of the whole scam was BS. I believe they got heavily criticized for the insinuation that cloth masks really didn’t work, & as a result didn’t they issue - not a retraction exactly - but some sort of “clarification”?

They knew it was all BS too. Remember the claim that wearing a mask was helpful just like wearing pants would keep the pee off your leg if somebody peed on you? I just dawned on me recently that they used that analogy to deliberately make fun of people. Like pissing in your face and telling you it's raining.

In medical school and through much of my career, I looked forward to reading the NEJM weekly. I was naive. With publication of this embarrassing mask study, NEJM has gone even beyond that and become a mouthpiece for the government
