This is just excellent, superior & why I subscribe to substack authors. Kai also authored The Chairman...the history of the CIA. How many people merely skate thru history, never caring to know the forces of evil behind the curtain? Thank you for this...👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Your articel was excellent. I was a researcher too, eager to find how things work and how it could benefit humanity. But I stopped my research when I found out, this would just harm humatity, probadly a true humanity lover. Probadly I saw a film as a young student som described how researcher could see the harm they invented but did´nt stopp it anyway. Young people have to learn that every thing you do has conseqences. I tried to fight those who had no regards for humanity but in vain. You can only change some but not all becuase people think too short sighted without the longterm conseqences. We should tell more of the old parables that the greek where very familiar with. You article did just that. Thank you.

The ENIAC was not the first computer. That was a cover story, used for 50 years after WW2 because the existence of Alan Turing's Colossus (built during WW2 to break enemy codes) was still top secret. Those interested should check out bletchleypark.org.uk, webpage of the site where he built it.
