So glad to see this article by Megan. I have been mask-adverse since the first mandate. I have COPD from a toxic fumes exposure years ago and wearing a mask is torture for me. My blood pressure goes through the roof, which is one effect I've yet to see research on. Thank you, Justin, and Megan, for all you are doing.
On top of all of Megan's brilliant points, have you noticed that no medical professionals are talking about the asthma epidemic among children anymore? It's as if it no longer exists! As a former child asthmatic, I can't even begin to explain the terror of not only constant asthma attacks, but the daily fear of not knowing when the next attack will strike, and if breathing will even be possible. It goes beyond child abuse that kids are being forced to weak masks and restrict their breathing, both those with asthma and without. Many of them are probably too afraid to complain due to their guilt-tripping, fear-mongering parents who tell them that it "has to be this way" to protect other people's lives. If they don't wear the masks, they probably believe they'll be putting the lives of their family and other students/teachers in danger! This is all so horrific.
Did you see the story of the asthmatic child on a flight that was forced to mask as he was having issues? I believe he was kicked off the flight. There is no humanity left. It’s just rule following of the “experts.”
This is why we can't fly. Even with the "fake masks" my asthmatic child has asthma attacks and his oxygen level drops to low 90's within 10 minutes. For two years we have driven across multiple states to visit families because my child which has a disability protected by the ADA, cannot be accommodated. Oh yeah, and he beat covid no problem. The masks give him more breathing issues than covid did!
I don’t have asthma, but I am perimenopausal and have developed anxiety attacks. I’m a runner, and I eat well, so they aren’t overwhelming, but I refuse to wear a mask as the decreased oxygen and lack of facial expressions set off my anxiety attacks. We have done the same thing with travel: we have visited 8 states in the last two years, all by car.
I said from the beginning I don’t understand how people fought for ADA for so many years, and now those same people are willing to throw it out the door. Can they really not see what they have done? I won’t allow my children to be masked (and my youngest is 11) and we are often the only ones without masks, but I didn’t want them to ever believe it is normal. They now are willing to stand up for anyone wanting to breathe freely. We have studied more than 30 studies about the uselessness if of mask-wearing so they also have the truth on their side.
I’m sorry to hear about how you have been restricted as well. I would have gotten off that flight with that child, but no one did.
Horrible! And the rest of the masked-up passengers probably just sat there like obliging sheep, saying nothing in the child's defense. I agree that there is no humanity left, or not much. I see so-called progressives embracing stricter mandates, and saying the unvaccinated should be denied medical care, and worse.
They did just sit there. Personally, I would have gotten off. I would have stood up and called people on the plane cowards. But I’m a trouble-maker ;) I don’t believe in allowing it. My children and I do not mask, and they have learned to be strong and stand up. I knew once we accepted it, there was no turning back.
Watching pregnant women walking around with masks on, especially outside when it's not required, has driven me insane!!!
When my child was two he was suffering from sleep apnea because of too large tonsils. My pediatrician had me absolutely terrified because she said any time air was constricted on a developing brain could cause damage. But here we are, "training" head start children in California college daycares to wear masks all day long.
Yes! I can’t imagine what these parents are thinking masking up their little kids. We have been maskless the entire time, and even in counties and stores with no mandates, the kids are still masked-up. I read the reports of IQs dropping and I am not surprised. It’s not just disability students, all kids are losing abilities from lack of expression, knowing facial cues, language, the list goes on!

Wow. Such insanity. So glad your child beat Covid!

Sent this to my elementary school district…hope they read it
It’s already “retracted.” The lack of real science, and instead forced submission, is real.
this is the best study showing hypoxia. more should use this instead of retracted ones. https://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/S1473050221001269
This one: Experimental Assessment of Carbon Dioxide Content in Inhaled Air With or Without Face Masks in Healthy Children was retracted.

Great post.
This major paper by German researchers also discusses the myriad harms of masking: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8072811/
