Our friends at Burbio look at the serious staffing issues facing schools across the country as they ramp back up into gear. They also note that the money spigot is pretty much on full blast. Great insights here: By the end of this week, just over ten percent
My kid's school started last week and they constantly send out information about open positions. Keep this up and home schooling won't be just an option for the affluent
Canadian geologist here who retrained to teach middle school math and science in Texas. I really want to teach this age group! I was surprised to find that I cannot teach without sponsorship (only university instructors can use the TN visa) and districts are not willing to do the additional legwork and red tape to sponsor me (knowing the process and the time it takes I don't blame them). Maybe it is time to put it under the Free Trade Agreement or to help the ISDs with sponsorship.
How much of what they're throwing at them now comes from covid funds? And what happens when that money runs out?
I’m doubtful that money will solve many of the staffing issues…Signed a 26 year public school staff member who just resigned.
