Authoritarians also commit systemic election fraud until they can remove the mask covering their horrific visage and end elections entirely, or turn them into a ludicrous charade evident to even the most credulous, tightening their grip on power by overtly terrorizing citizens thereafter (see DC's January 6 prisoners).
