“The image of this supposed danger beset and tortured the minds of the people far more than the real and existing danger.”
So much for evolution of humanity!
Burning witches at a stake hundreds of years ago is now considered barbaric and ludicrous yet we have leaders who are less advanced mentally now than those times in my opinion.
Its staggering how quickly we have fallen for their false narrative with so much technology and so much advancement occurring since burning witches took place and the events of this article reveal.
Fortunately we’ve avoided much of the violence so far. Except for the riots, which definitely fit into your narrative, if not perfectly. I wonder what percent of those in the 17th century were partaking in the madness out of pure opportunism like we saw two summers ago.
Proof that little changes in humanity.
Proof that without God, without a moral compass, without reason and humility, atrocities are inevitable.
The start of Boccaccio's Decameron, set during the Black Death, in Florence, is also well worth reading. Text is available online for free.
I'm going to have to read this book.
Sounds like people have long acted like silly people, given the length of rope to hang theirselves.
