Trump is wrong about DeSantis. And sadly - he is lying.

Yesterday, the fight between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, escalated to another level as President Trump took to a specific podcast to tell blatant lies about the performance of Governor DeSantis during the Covid pandemic.

A piece by Brian Blase in Newsweek lays out the case as to why the strategy that Governor DeSantis of the state of Florida employed was the right way to go and how the outcomes are nowhere near what President Trump alludes here.

This article examines the COVID-19 policies of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the impact of those policies on the state's health, economic, education, and migration outcomes.

Key takeaways:
  1. The study found that the stringency of state COVID restrictions was not significantly correlated with health outcomes.

  2. Severe state COVID restrictions were significantly related to worse economic and education outcomes.

  3. Florida's in-person schooling rate was among the best in the country.

Florida's in-person schooling rate, which positively correlates with better test scores, was among the best in the country. Governor DeSantis's insistence that schools remain open protected Florida youth from educational harm, as well as feelings of social isolation and depression, rising screen time, and higher levels of obesity experienced by so many children elsewhere during the pandemic.

This is a sensitive subject as I know many of my readers are still very strong Trump supporters. But we need to call a spade a spade, and I'm very disappointed to see this come about.
