We can only be grateful he didn't discover the power of cloth face coverings until many decades of public service later.

I'm too young to remember what it was like in the early-to-mid-'80s, but believe there was a lot of hysteria among yuppies about how one-night stands could turn into death sentences. Also, Ryan White, the Indiana boy who died in 1990, became the poster child for how "everyone" could get it.
