Guess what? It's also Jewish voters. My son who is 48 is voting Republican for the first time. He lives in LA area and is totally pissed off at this administration's handling of the Israel vs Iran conflict and he anticipates that Harris will be worse. Bet there are more like him.
The first is that California has been dominated by Democrat machine politics, but it's never been as "blue" as is popularly believed; it's been moderate and there was a time when almost all California Republican party platforms were essentially a "looter's manifesto." It flipped when the tech bros invaded, locusts devouring all in their path.
The second is that one should never underestimate the duplicity of machine politics and those that love it. The urban core is filthy with those for whom there is no depth of depravity to which they will not sink in pursuit of enabling their chosen avatars to seize power.
What love of liberty remains in the hearts of the majority "liberal" establishment here, is the liberty allowed by wealth and power. "Trickle-down" theory by any other name, smells just as fetid. The credulity is appalling, but nothing new under the sun, I suppose.
CA is full of immigrants who don't know much or don't care to integrate too much into the country. They are here for the money. They will keep their heads down and go with whatever gets the green.
Most people just regurgitate whatever they heard on NPR on way to work.
Among those who care, very few tell the truth. Everybody assumes that everybody else is an NPC. It takes more than a hello to get the real opinion out. The red character was always there.
