I used to get the flu every year despite the flu shot. I figured it wasn't very helpful so I changed my diet etc..and haven't had either in at least 4 years. Your mileage may vary.
I only changed my diet a little bit 15 years ago. Mostly, I just stopped with the soda and fast food...though I still had some maybe once a month. The big thing for me was that I started supplementing. Did the same with my kids. I haven't been sick since. My kids didn't get sick either...until they went off to college and stopped supplementing.
I think if anything can be learned from this situation is that your health is your responsibility and to treat not as a chore but as a means to make yourself as independent from the medical industry as much as you possibly can and still maintain good health.
Totally agree. Anecdotal, but many people I know that have taken the flu shot over the years, actually caught the flu anyway. Doesn't mean a particular flu shot doesn't work necessarily, but that the strain it "covered" wasn't the one they caught.
I declined the flu shot and couldn't work in some hospitals after that.

So does it make sense to get the flu vaccine this year? Used to get it 2019 and prior
Not a doctor. If you are vulnerable, vaccines make sense, otherwise, like with covid, I would suggest no.
Regardless. if should be your choice, based on the best medical advice you can find, not mandated.
